This Report is about 'The Big Picture'. A snapshot of where humanity and civilization stand today. Population growth, climate change, environmental problems, man-made chemicals, germ warfare, and terrorism are all brought together into one understandable whole.

Reached at home the day after terrorists attacked America, Mr. Underwood considered withdrawing the book from publication after the attacks on the World Trade Center.

"It’s almost impossible to keep any kind of perspective in a situation like this but that’s precisely what we must do," Mr. Underwood said. "After re-reading my manuscript I realized that even with this horrendous loss of life, we are still pumping CO2 into the air, man-made chemicals are still weakening our immune systems, sea level is still rising, deforestation continues unabated and there are still two babies born every second."

Storm Warning’s central theme is that a micro-level ‘trigger’ will begin a global civilization collapse resulting in a world population of sixty million by the year 2100…a ninety nine percent reduction in humanity. And the enormity of such a global breakdown is beyond the ability of any government to stop. Mr. Underwood uses biowar terrorism as the micro-level trigger that begins the BreakPoint collapse of our civilization, although there could be any number of ‘triggers’ alone or in combination.

"We are standing on thin air, right next to the Coyote in the Road Runner cartoon. We can’t make it back to the edge of the cliff…we haven’t started to fall. Terrorism is only one front in our fight for survival. Unless we can find a way to fight for our survival on all fronts then killing a few bad guys is not going to make any difference in the long run. As terrible as the attacks on our country were, they are but the first clouds on the horizon warning us that there’s a storm coming."

About the Author

James Underwood was born in Atlanta, GA in 1950.

In 1983, out of concern for his ten year old daughter, he began the research that led to this report. It began as a hobby but over the years the desire to understand how it all fit together became an all-consuming passion.

Soldier, pilot, musician, electrician...in 1987, a construction accident left him totally and permanently deaf.

James currently resides in Cartersville, GA. Storm Warning is his first published work. There is much more to come. He is now working on his second report, "Mother Earth, Sex, and the Exploration of Space.
